The Times - Coal Porters

Great review of the Coal Porters new Album 'Durango' in the Sunday Times, 31st Jan 2010. Sid Griffin and the Band deserve the accolades.
Review read.....
SID GRIFFIN'S 1980'S BAND THE LONG RYDERS WERE ALTERNATIVE COUNTRY'S FORGOTTEN PROGENITORS. TODAY GRIFFIN OFFERS INSTEAD A MILDER ELECTRIC BLUEGRASS WITH THE COAL PORTERS. DICK SMITH'S BREATHLESS BANJO PICKING AND CARLY FREY'S FLEET FIDDLE POWER THE STANDARDS; THE GUITARIST NEIL ROBERT HERD OFFERS THE WESTERN SWING - FLAVOURED 'THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE OIL'; AND GRIFFIN'S GULF WAR NARRATIVE, 'PERMANENT TWIGHLIGHT', SOUNDS LIKE SOME VINTAGE ANTI VIETNAM SONG BY A FORMER BYRD FLYING SOLO. THE BLUEGRASS LEGEND PETE ROWAN GUESTS ON HIS MOONLIGHT MIDNIGHT, THE ALBUMS HIGHLIGHT.
